Environmental Policy
Marya Mannes - American Writer, 1904-1990.
The earth we abuse and the living things we kill will, in the end, take their revenge; for in exploiting their presence we are diminishing our future.
Our environmental policy will ensure that we maintain a healthy, clean and vibrant natural environment that is essential to the health and long life of all living creatures.
Our fight is to ensure our environment is free from hazardous pollution, replete with abundant life and full of growth of all things green. We are motivated not by a misguided worship of nature or a disdain of humanity as an evil plague upon the Earth, but we are motivated to protect our environment for the sake of humanity, so that we can all be healthy in body, mind and spirit.
This is why the Australian Sovereignty Party is and always will be - the only genuine environmentalist party.
For reasons as clearly outlined in our Climate Change Policy, our pursuit of a clean and safe natural environment is not based on a politically motivated and misinformed attempt to cut emissions of carbon dioxide, but rather it is based on the recognition of real environmental problems - especially those which are known and have been proved to be detrimental to the health of people and all living creatures.
Joseph Wood Krutch - American Naturalist and Writer, 1893-1970.
If we do not permit the earth to produce beauty and joy, it will in the end not produce food, either.
It is perfectly possible and even desirable for technology to be at harmony with nature, and we believe the two can complement each other. The drive to protect the environment does not have to be at the expense of human development, but with the right education, humanity can grow, expand, and embrace the environment as well.
Since the majority of pollution is directly attributable to corporate greed and the desire to make maximum profit at the expense of our natural environment (such as when big oil companies unnecessarily tear up the Amazon rainforest to drill for oil, and make no attempt to prevent toxic waste spilling into the ecosystem) - the Australian Sovereignty Party will never sell out to corporate bribes. We do have the courage and integrity to stand and let our voices be heard regarding the corporate giants who are responsible for so much of the world's pollution (which does not include CO2).
If we support the expansion of rail and public transport, if we support industries that will produce affordable electric cars and trucks made from non-toxic materials - it is not because we have an interest in reducing CO2 emissions (which is an essential element to life), but because of our desire to reduce particulates in the air which cause asthma and other health problems, and which rob us of our enjoyment of viewing clean deep blue skies. We are the real environmentalists.
Where we support the planting of trees and keeping certain areas free from deforestation, it is not because we are concerned about the emissions of CO2, but it is because trees help filter particulate pollution, prevent desertification and salinity problems, provide an essential habitat for wildlife, and they provide an aura of life which can bring health to our bodies and peace to our souls - all of which have been scientifically proven.
Robert Redford
I think the environment should be put in the category of our national security. Defense of our resources is just as important as defense abroad. Otherwise what is there to defend?
As part of our vision to ensure we have a clean and safe natural environment, ASP will do the following:
-
Re-assess the status of large corporations that continue to violate the environment, with the potential of de-registering such corporations so as to ensure the CEO's of these companies can be held directly liable for their flagrant crimes against humanity and the environment.
-
Tighten regulations and controls over industries that emit/dispose of harmful chemicals and particulates into the air, water and ground, and ensure that proper guidelines for the safe disposal of toxic industrial waste by-products are adhered to.
-
We will place an immediate moratorium on the "Geo-Engineering" projects currently being implemented by governments world wide, such as the publically admitted weather modification programs, until we can better understand the potential for harm that may be caused to either humanity or to the eco-system as a result of these programs.
-
Ensure that Australia's many coal fired power plants are running cleanly and efficiently, and only emit water vapour and CO2 into the atmosphere, and no other particulates or by-products.
-
Call for an immediate moratorium on the use of GMO crops and other foods until we can better understand the effects on both the natural environment and human health.
-
Assist Australian manufacturers to produce affordable home grown electric powered vehicles to help mitigate smog and particulate build up - which causes negative health effects, especially around major cities.
-
Stop the cause of salinity and desertification - by undertaking a massive tree planting program.
-
Redirecting excessive water from areas of high rainfall to dryer areas by undertaking a large nation building infrastructure program of building pipelines and water channels, particularly from wet northern areas to dryer southern areas of Australia.
-
Promote and fund the building of new residential communities that are totally self sufficient in power production, water collection and sewerage treatment.
-
Promote the free use of community gardens to grow fruit and vegetables, which are to be located within walking distance of every household. This will help to promote community spirit, getting in touch with nature, and is more sustainable and healthier than transporting food over large distances.
-
Consider an entirely different approach to how we support our population growth. Instead of simply expanding the urban sprawl (which is highly inefficient), we will look at building new sustainable communities and cities as has been proposed by people like Jacque Fresco, that are socially and environmentally friendly.

Trying to save ecosystems has more to do with changing egosystems.
